Sow a band to raise a girl through sports
Target: ₦1 Million
Ripples Sport Foundation is an initiative targeted towards young girls in the field of sport.
We scout, nurture and champion girls from their grassroot age in different sporting activities.
We also raise awareness about the significance of sport inclusion in the early life stage of a girl child.
Facts and Figures
1. Only 10% of Nigerian girls are introduced to sports early in life, in stark contrast to their male counterparts, who are encouraged to participate in sports from a young age.2. In sports, 8 out of 10 girls face stereotypes, stigma, and body shaming, often being advised to pursue careers that align with traditional feminine traits.3. Historically, parents have discouraged their daughters from engaging in sports, fearing it may lead to promiscuity and bring shame upon the family.
In a world where girls face stigmatization in sports and are often steered towards careers that align with traditional feminine traits, our mission is to raise awareness, foster understanding, and reshape the narrative surrounding girls in sports in Nigeria and Africa at large. And that is why we are reaching out to you in helping us create a secure environment for girls in the realm of sports. Ripples Sports Foundation is dedicated to grassroots development for girls. We are committed to locating them in every corner, whether on the streets, in schools, or on playgrounds, and providing them with opportunities. However, none of this can be accomplished without your support and involvement.
How you can donate?
We encourage you to sow seeds of support by sowing as many wristbands as possible for these girls. Proceeds from the sales will fund their training, develop sports facilities for their practice sessions, provide them with necessary equipment, organize competitions among them, and ultimately sponsor their journey in sports.
How does the band work?
The wristband is real! As you sow a band, we also sow it out. It's important to clarify that the wristbands you sow will not be directly received by you. Instead, we give them to parents, educators, and sports enthusiasts, empowering them to join our cause in eradicating stigma and amplifying the message of Ripples Sport Foundation. Together, we create a ripple effect of awareness and support, transforming the life of a girl child in sport one wristband at a time. These wristbands play a vital role in our outreach efforts, helping us raise awareness, foster community engagement, and support these girl athletes. These wristbands are more than just accessories; they symbolize real change. However, If you believe there's a group or organization that could benefit from receiving these wristbands to promote our cause, please don't hesitate to reach out to us. We encourage you to actively participate in spreading awareness about our foundation within your own community.
Ongoing Project
Raising Olympic standard Volleyballers!
Currently, we have formed partnerships with Junior Public Secondary Schools in Abeokuta, Ogun State, Nigeria with the aim of cultivating volleyball talent among students.Shockingly, 99% of these schools lack volleyball facilities regardless of local standards (be it basic bamboo constructions with nets as Courts or otherwise).Consequently, not a single student has ever had the opportunity to experience the game of volleyball within the school premises. These girls range between the ages of 9-15 years old.To this effect, Ripples Sports Foundation is embarking on a partnership initiative with these secondary schools for the term. As part of this collaboration, we will be offering them access to professional coaches, constructing state-of-the-art facilities adhering to Olympic standards, and empowering the girls through the sport of volleyball.
Additionally, Ripples Sports Foundation will organize seminars and talk shows for these students, focusing on the importance of balancing sports, academics, and other extracurricular activities, particularly within their age group. These sessions aim to provide valuable guidance and insights to help them effectively manage their time and priorities while pursuing their sport passion and academic excellence.
